The Bocas del Toro archipelago is located in the Bocas del Toro province and consists of 5 major islands and hundreds of smaller ones. This archipelago is located in the Almirante Bay on the Caribbean side of western Panama. These islands are sometimes referred to by scientists, as the “Galapagos of Central America”. This name was inspired by the unique plants and animals that have evolved on each island due to 10,000 years of isolation due to geologic activity.
These islands are located about 9 degrees above the equator in the wet tropical zone. The average annual rainfall is 330 cm and average daily temperature of 82-86 degrees Fahrenheit.
