Bocas del Toro surf has several great breaks on Isla Bastimentos within walking distance of Bocas Bound. You could could spend your entire Bocas del Toro surf vacation on our island.  Wizard Beach, turtle beach, and Red Frog Beach can accessed by walking. A short jungle trail from Bocas Bound leads to Red Frog Beach. This beach is gorgeous, sporting exciting rock formations and sugary sand, and more importantly, it has a constant swell and a great beach break for intermediate surfers during Bocas del Toro surf season.

Bocas del Toro surf has many different breaks throughout the island archipelago. The long tube sections can be found on Caranero, “Silverbacks” are very powerful and big when the swell is up, “Bluff” beach breaks close to the sandy shore and has some amazing spitting tubes. There are dozens of other Bocas del Toro surf spots that we can tell you about when you get here. Surf in Bocas del Toro picks up swells coming from many directions in the Caribbean so there is usually a wave to be caught somewhere in the archipelago.

Other Bocas del Toro beaches in the vicinity of Bastimentos also offer some of the best surfing in Panama. The surf and tropical environment make it a surfing destination that is frequently compared to the quality found in Indonesia or Tahiti. The biggest and most consistent surf swells hit Bocas del Toro from December through March or April. You can also expect to find great Bocas del Toro surf during June and July. Bocas is surrounded by lush green primary forest. The beaches are long with white sand and the water is very clear and blue, so it is possible to see the reef while surfing.
